I joined Euromoney in 2010 with an accounting and finance degree, looking for a career as an accountant. The first thing I noticed was the amount of responsibility I was given from my first day. To start with it can be intimidating as it is a completely different environment from life at university. However, support from line managers and colleagues is not hard to find and I quickly settled in. One of the things that attracted me to Euromoney was the great study package.

Employees studying towards becoming qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) are entitled to five days off for each exam to prepare, which is rare in industry accounting. Not only this, but due to the size of the finance department, there are lots of people in the same position, which makes the task seem much less daunting as you are able to motivate each other and learn from your peers who are already qualified.

In my role as a management accountant I have had great some exposure to senior management and a wide range of opportunities. We have monthly meetings with the directors of the businesses, IT managers, sales and marketing staff. I have also had the chance to attend and represent finance at a live event in Chicago, prepared statutory accounts for external auditors and conducted my own internal audits for management. The variety of work keeps things both challenging and rewarding.

Be under no illusions: the Euromoney finance department is a high pressured place to work with little room for error. However, if it is a fast-paced career that you are after and a place where you can build a foundation for your accountancy experience then Euromoney is a great place to do so.
